Approvals and community confidence – renewable energy
Pottinger Energy Park
Someva Renewables | Hay, NSW
Someva Renewables was seeking planning approval for the Pottinger Energy Park in Hay, western NSW, a region with strong agricultural identity and mixed sentiment toward large-scale renewables.
From 2022-24, Lecroma led the stakeholder engagement and social impact assessment, consulting with more than 780 stakeholders about the proposed wind farm. We mapped socio-economic pressure points early, designed an engagement approach calibrated to the local context and were the primary point of contact for community, neighbours and host landholders.
We delivered both the preliminary and final Social Impact Assessments for the Environmental Impact Statement, alongside a Local Industry Participation Plan and an Aboriginal Participation Plan to embed regional economic benefit and First Nations participation into the project's delivery model. In 2025, Lecroma also supported the project’s CIS and South West Renewable Energy Zone Access Rights bid processes, contributing to the social licence, community engagement and regional economic development components.
The assessment met NSW State Significant Development requirements, with the Pottinger Energy Park receiving planning approval in 2025. The project has also been granted an Access Right, supporting its progression through to the construction stage.
Lecroma is now supporting Someva Renewables on other projects.
